Finally! Although almost everyone I know that paid for this ended up getting a less official copy installed instead.  I’m sure that’s what Microsoft wanted. (For the record, my copy is legit.)

Cats are Trouble (And Biohazards)
The cats broke a lamp last night.  I wasn’t so upset about it until I found a piece of the CFL bulb that had broken that they were playing with.  Even worse, I don’t know that I’ve found all the pieces.  I hope they kept the shards of mercury-laced glass out of their kitty bellies. Also, I apparently didn’t follow proper protocol in handling the broken bulb.  It seems...

Server Hosting for Startups
During the production of Clan-Wars (AKA Disciple) and in some previous ventures, I’ve gotten familiar with the pros and cons of several different types of hosting.  I’m not going to share my opinions on specific hosting providers, but I do want to share my learnings on types of hosting and what we have found worked the best. First, there are 4 main types of hosting that one...

Must Have OSX Software
This is a repost from my old blog, but I think it was useful enough to post it again. Here’s a little list that Doki and I came up with a while back. It’s only a little out of date in that we’ve also found some great new things that I will be sharing later.  Check out the full list after the break… Media: Cog – For playing audio media that itunes doesn’t. http://cogx.org/index.php VLC –...

New Twitter Feature Coming!
I just got access to a beta Twitter feature that you’ll probably see leaked soon enough on the web.  All I can say right now is that it’s something a lot of you have been asking for a long time!

Man, VMware would run so much better if I just had 8GB of RAM. Why are DDR3 SODIMMs so expensive?!?!

VMware Fusion 3 Up and Running
The eval key I requested finally showed up about 7 hours later.  I got Fusion 3 installed and it’s quite nice.  Lots of little touches that help - like the menu bar doesn’t automatically appear at the top of the screen.  Instead, it has the smaller VMware menu like in Player or Workstation. The Aero performance in Windows 7 is a little disappointing right now.  I’m not sure if I...

Tumblr Features
A great Tumblr feature is that it allows you to queue multiple posts up at once, so you can make it appear that you’re posting all day.  For example, you could have your queue post once every 15 minutes.  That’ll keep you guys entertained, right?

VMware Confirms Academic Store Issue
After waiting about 45 minutes on hold, VMware confirmed that they’re having issues with the Academic store and it should be fixed in about 24 hours.  At this point, I have no choice but to uninstall Fusion 3 and reinstall Fusion 2. *sigh* Good thing the guy answered right when he did, because I had literally entered my credit card number in the regular store and was about to hit check out.

VMware Fusion 3 Academic Upgrade Fail
It seems that VMware’s Academic store won’t recognize that I’ve registered VMware Fusion 2.x and won’t allow me to proceed through checkout.  I’m on hold waiting for their support to try to get it straightened out, but in the mean time I have a VMware installation that I can’t start up. In addition, I thought I would just request an eval key for Fusion 3 to get...

I get it.
Alright, after seeing how tumblr integrates with Twitter, I have to say that “I get it” now.  Seriously cool stuff. I’ll try moving my wordpress stuff over to Tumblr tonight.  I have yet to figure out the comment system.  If anyone else has been using Tumblr and can explain the comment system (Disqus?) to me, I’d appreciate it!  Otherwise, I’ll figure it out tonight.
